A stunning 2019 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport will be serving as the Official Pace Car for the 103rd Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge. This year marks the 16th time a Corvette model has served as the Official Pace Car for the “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” and the 30th time for a Chevrolet vehicle. No other automaker or automobile has earned more Official Pace Car postings than Chevrolet or Corvette.
The first Chevrolet to serve as Official Pace Car for the Indy 500 was a 1948 Fleetmaster Six convertible, taking the lead in the race of that same year. The 2019 race, which takes place on May 26, marks the first time a Corvette has been the Official Pace Car since 2007.
“Chevrolet is honored to lead the way for the 500 once again,” said Steve Majoros, director of Chevrolet passenger car and crossover marketing. “The Grand Sport is a particularly excellent choice as its wide body and aerodynamic features are steeped in racing heritage.”
The 2019 Chevy Corvette Grand Sport is practically race-ready itself, offering a 0-60 mph time of just 3.6 seconds. To experience track-capable thrills in your day-to-day, stop into Stingray Chevrolet Bartow and check out our selection of Corvette sports cars.
